Most frequent questions
Is there a waitlist?
No. We know how important it is for you to get help as quickly as possible when you decide you’re ready. So, we do not keep a waitlist. If we can’t schedule you as quickly as you need, we’ll offer you referrals to other therapists who may be able to help you.
How much do you charge?
The cost for a 50 minute session ranges from $165 -$200 depending on the type of therapy provided. Counselling is a health service, so there is no tax.
Intensives, on the other hand, aren’t just more therapy, they’re a different kind of therapy — one designed to help you experience relief and progress faster. It is a premium service because it condenses weeks (sometimes months) of progress into just a few hours. Each intensive is highly personalized and designed to help you create deep, lasting change. The cost, therefore, comes at an investment of $1200/Intensive day. Some insurance providers will cover the cost of this investment through direct billing, ensuring you don’t have a lot of out-of-pocket expenses. However, if you don’t have insurance and would still like to complete an intensive, we can come up with a suitable pre-payment plan that works for you.
Many clients find the results well worth the investment, especially when compared to the cost (and time) of months or years of traditional sessions.
What Hours Do you work?
I generally work Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays. On these days, I am available from 7am-9pm (Wed-Thurs) and 7am - 5pm (Fri). If you require an intensive session on a Saturday or Sunday, we can discuss this.
What about my insurance?
If you have insurance through your employer health benefits, check to ensure that a social worker is covered. I do have a master’s degree (known as an MSW) if that is a requirement.
I can bill direct to Co-operators, Equitable Life, NexgenRX, Industrial Alliance, Canada Life, and Greenshield. I will submit the claim. Any amount not covered directly is covered by you through either cash or etransfer. If you have a different insurer, we can attempt to submit direct to see if it would be accepted.
What types of therapies do you use?
I am well versed in the following modalities:
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART),
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT),
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR),
FLASH
Progressive Counting, as well as
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and
Dialetical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
What are your payment terms?
Just like when you get your nails done, have a massage or get your car’s oil changed, payment is required the day of your appointment. Payments can be made with cash, or etransfer before your appointment. A receipt will be given after your appointment. All amounts paid that have not been covered by a 3rd party at the end of the year can be submitted as a health expense on your income tax.
I request pre-payment because I know life gets busy after sessions. I’m not great at chasing people for payment and I personally hate it being the last thing we talk about in session. So, I’d rather leave on a good note with payment out of the way before we even start our time together.
